Aitken Fastest in Sebring Night Practice

Action Express Racing driver Jack Aitken set the pace in the night practice session for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Aitken’s best lap at the wheel of the No. 31 Cadillac V-Series.R was a 1:49.125, 0.125 seconds quicker than No. 93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-06 of Nick Yelloly.

The second Acura took third with Tom Blomqvist at the wheel, with Nick Tandy fourth behind the wheel of the No. 7 Porsche 963.

Kevin Magnussen completed the overall top five in the No. 24 BMW M Hybrid V8, with Mathieu Jaminet and Neel Jani sixth and seventh for Porsche Penske Motorsport and Proton Competition, respectively.

Marco Wittmann slotted into eighth at the wheel of the No. 25 BMW, while the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R and No. 63 Lamborghini SC63 rounded out the overall top ten.

In LMP2, Mikkel Jensen reeled off a 1:50.496 to lead the class in the No. 11 TDS Racing Oreca 07 Gibson, a time that left the Dane ahead of three GTP runners.

Paul di Resta put in a late 1:51.140 to take the No. 22 United Autosports Oreca into second place, dropping the No. 88 Pecom Racing machine of Nicklas Nielsen to third place.

Philip Ellis set the fastest overall time in the GT ranks, leading GTD in the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with a 2:00.538.

Laurin Heinrich, quickest in GTD Pro, was 0.213 seconds off at the wheel of the No. 77 AO Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, but still ahead of the No. 32 Korthoff Competition Motors Mercedes-AMG in the hands of Maximilian Goetz.

The two Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs picked up second and third in GTD Pro behind Goetz, with Antonio Garcia and Nico Varrone at the wheel, respectively.

The 90-minute session was interrupted by three red flags, with the first one coming within the first 15 minutes after Cedric Sbirazzuoli spun the No. 34 Conquest Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 and became beached at Turn 5.

Debris at Turns 1-3 triggered a second stoppage with just under an hour remaining, while Aaron Telitz brought running to a halt for a third and final time after going off at Turn 3 in the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3.

Qualifying for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring is scheduled for Friday at 11:25 a.m. EST.
