Alegra Motorsports is set to return to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition beginning with next month’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway.

The Florida-based GT Daytona squad, which has been absent from the last three races due to sponsorship issues, recently tested its Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo at Sebring International Raceway.

Daniel Morad confirmed on Instagram on Thursday of the team’s planned return for the Oct. 8-9 event.

It’s presumed the Canadian driver will be joined at the wheel by Michael de Quesada for the race.

The news comes as fellow Mercedes-AMG entrant Gilbert Korthoff Motorsports confirmed Mike Skeen as part of its lineup for the VIR event, meaning there will be two GTD entries from the German manufacturer present.

The two-hour and 40-minute GT-only contest serves as the penultimate round of the WeatherTech Championship season, with the Motul Petit Le Mans set to close out the championship in November.
