Earl Bamber will make his full-season return to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, having been confirmed in Cadillac Whelen’s GTP entry.
Announced on Wednesday, the Kiwi, who has spent the last two seasons in the FIA World Endurance Championship, will join Jack Aitken behind the wheel of the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series.R.
As previously reported by Sportscar365, Frederik Vesti will complete the team’s lineup for the Michelin Endurance Cup races.
Bamber, who most recently served as Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports’ third driver in several WeatherTech Championship enduros, replaces Pipo Derani in the No. 31 car lineup, following the Brazilian’s departure from the Gary Nelson-led organization at the end of the 2024 season.
It will mark Bamber’s first full WeatherTech Championship season since 2022 when he was part of the Chip Ganassi Racing-run Cadillac effort in DPi.
Sportscar365 understands that Bamber is set to also be part of Hertz Team JOTA’s Cadillac lineup in the WEC, although will likely miss the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps as a result of a clash with the WeatherTech Championship round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on the same weekend.
Vesti, the 2023 F2 runner-up, is coming off a season in the European Le Mans Series and is understood to have already sampled the Dallara-built LMDh car.
