The BMW M8 GTE has been among the cars affected by Balance of Performance adjustments ahead of this weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Issued by IMSA on Wednesday afternoon, the GT Le Mans contender will be 20 kg heavier than it was at last weekend’s Roar Before the Rolex 24.
While no changes have been made to the class pole-sitting Chevrolet Corvette C8.R or the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo, the Porsche 911 RSR-19 has been handed a 5 kg weight reduction.
It brings the minimum weight of the WeatherTech Racing Porsche entry to 1275 kg, compared to 1250 kg for the BMW.
IMSA has not made any changes to cars in the DPi or GT Daytona classes.
The sanctioning body, however, clarified the Cadillac DPi.V.R’s aerodynamic configuration, which now states the mandatory use of the car’s homologated standard front fender inserts.
In LMP2, IMSA has given the Ligier JS P217 Gibson a reduction in minimum wing angle, meanwhile, after struggling for straight-line speed at the Roar.
On-track action for the Rolex 24 kicks off on Thursday morning.
