Bomarito Quickest in Roar Night Session

Jonathan Bomarito set the benchmark time of the Roar Before the 24 in Saturday night practice at Daytona International Speedway.

Bomarito’s best lap of 1:34.533 was a full 0.444 seconds faster than his teammate Oliver Jarvis, while Pipo Derani followed in third for Action Express Racing.

His time is the fastest of the Roar so far and is unofficially under the existing track record.

Mike Conway put the sister No. 5 AXR Cadillac DPi-V.R in fourth, while Colin Braun piloted the No. 54 CORE autosport Nissan Onroak DPi to the fifth fastest overall time in the session.

LMP2 saw all four entered cars turn laps for just the second time at the Roar, led by Gabriel Aubry in the No. 52 Oreca 07 Gibson for PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports.

Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber completed a 1-2 sweep of the top two spots in GT Le Mans for Porsche, with the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR edging the sister No. 912 by 0.122 seconds.

Sebastien Bourdais was third fastest for Ford Chip Ganassi Racing in the No. 66 Ford GT, followed by Scott Dixon in the sister No. 66 entry,

In GT Daytona, IMSA debutante Victor Franzoni set the fastest lap time in the No. 13 Via Italia Racing Ferrari 488 GT3.

Daniel Serra was second in the Spirit of Race Ferrari, while Maxi Buhk put P1 Motorsports third in class in the No. 71 Mercedes-AMG GT3.

It was the final session of the Roar for GTD teams, while the other three classes have two full sessions, plus the Roar qualifying session used to determine pit and garage selections, scheduled for Sunday.
