Bourdais Quickest in Second Petit Le Mans Practice

Sebastien Bourdais put in a late flying lap to top the second Free Practice session for Motul Petit Le Mans.

The Frenchman reeled off a 1:09.040 in the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R to beat Meyer Shank Racing’s Tom Blomqvist to the top with a minute remaining in the session.

Blomqvist was 0.302 seconds down in the No. 60 Acura ARX-05, while Kamui Kobayashi took third ahead of JDC-Miller Motorsports’ Tristan Vautier.

Pipo Derani rounded out the top five in the No. 31 Action Express Cadillac, while Earl Bamber ended the session sixth.

While all other Dpi runners set quick also in the closing minutes, the No. 02 CGR Cadillac was left sitting in pit lane after contact between Bamber and the No. 47 Cetilar Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 of Roberto Lacorte at Turn 12.

LMP2 was topped by the No. 18 Era Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson of Ryan Dalziel, while the No. 74 Riley Motorsports Ligier JS P320 Nissan led LMP3 in the hands of Kay van Berlo.

A late flyer put the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 of Ben Barnicoat on top of the No. 25 Team RLL BMW M4 GT3 of Jesse Krohn.

Barnicoat’s lap of 1:18.912 left him 0.645 seconds clear of Krohn, with Corvette Racing’s Nick Catsburg third.

Vasser Sullivan completed a lockout of the GT ranks as Richard Heistand led GTD with a best lap of 1:19.853 in the No. 14 Lexus.

The vast majority of the session was run under green flag conditions, with the exception of a brief red flag caused when the No. 8 Tower Motorsport Oreca of Rui Andrade found the barrier at Turn 1.

Night practice takes place at 7:30 p.m ET.
