Filming for the yet-to-be-titled Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt is shifting to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for the next two weeks at Daytona International Speedway.

The Joseph Kosinski-directed film, which stars Pitt as a washed-up driver who is drafted into F1, will be utilizing multiple film cars as part of a tie-up with WeatherTech Championship squad Wright Motorsports.

The Ohio-based team’s No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R, entered in the GTD class, is decked out in colors from the fictional Chip Hart Racing team, including sponsorship from insurance company GEICO and Peak antifreeze.

While featuring the names of Wright’s real-life driver lineup — Jan Heylen, Adam Adelson, Elliott Skeer and Fred Makowiecki on its actual race car — the film cars carry the names of Sonny Hayes (Pitt), ‘C. Kelso’ and former Porsche factory driver Patrick Long.

Long, who retired from top-level professional competition at the end of the 2021 season, is expected to be among the drivers at the wheel of the film cars, which will be on-track outside of officially scheduled sessions.

A total of four Porsche 911 GT3 Rs, in addition to Wright’s Rolex 24-entered car, were spotted in the paddock on Thursday, along with an additional Wright-owned transporter in Chip Hart Racing graphics parked alongside another used for its race entry.

It’s unclear if Pitt, who is confirmed to be on-site for scenes, will be at the wheel of one of the cars at any point during the filming process.

The Jerry Bruckheimer-produced movie, which has been picked up by Apple Original Films, previously had filming sessions at the British Grand Prix and other F1 races, ahead of its expected release date in 2025.

The shooting at Daytona essentially confirms the expected IMSA element to the movie, which is rumored to be featured in the opening minutes of the film.
