Cameron Leads Second Practice at Road America

Dane Cameron led an Acura Team Penske 1-2 in the second and final practice session prior to qualifying for Sunday’s IMSA Road Race Showcase at Road America.

Cameron reeled off a 1:49.280 late in the session to edge out Friday pace-setter Ricky Taylor by 0.165 seconds.

The No. 77 Mazda RT24-P of Tristan Nunez was third quickest, followed by the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R of Pipo Derani, who was atop the time charts for the majority of the session.

Simon Trummer again led the way in LMP2 in the No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson.

Corvette Racing was quickest in GT Le Mans, with Oliver Gavin setting a 2:00.987 lap time in the No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R.

It was 0.240 seconds quicker than the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Fred Makowiecki, with Jordan Taylor third in the sister Corvette.

Lexus rose to the top of the time charts in GT Daytona, with Aaron Telitz leading Frankie Montecalvo in a 1-2 run for AIM Vasser Sullivan.

Telitz’s 2:05.691 lap time in the No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 was more than seven-tenths quicker than the competition.

The session was halted early for an accident by the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BWM M6 GT3 of Robby Foley, who slammed into the Turn 5 barriers.

Foley had set the third quickest time in the class prior to the incident.

There were also issues for the No. 55 Mazda RT24-P of Jonathan Bomarito, who was slow on-track but managed to get the car back to the pit lane.

Qualifying is set to begin at 1:55 p.m. CT.
