Mike Conway will complete the lineup in the No. 5 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R for next month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, the team has confirmed.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing LMP1 factory driver joins full-season drivers Filipe Albuquerque and Joao Barbosa, as well as Christian Fittipaldi, in his final race in professional competition, in the Mustang Sampling-sponsored entry for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

While it will mark Conway’s debut in the No. 5 car, the Brit has previous Michelin Endurance Cup starts in the team’s Whelen-sponsored Cadillac DPi.

“I’m happy to be returning to race for Action Express in the Rolex 24 again this year,” said Conway.

“I am looking forward to joining Mustang Sampling Racing and driving with Joao, Christian, and Filipe. It is great to have already worked with them in the past, and as the results have shown, the team is very capable so I am eager to get to Daytona and help them hopefully bring another trophy home.”

Team manager Gary Nelson said Conway is a “strong team player” to the North Carolina-based organization, which heads into the 2019 WeatherTech Championship season as defending champions.

“We have been working hard to prepare to win at Daytona once again and we are happy to have Mike return to the team again this year,” Nelson said. “We are all looking forward to getting back to Daytona for the Roar to continue those preparations for the 24 at the end of the month.”
