Corvette’s Garcia Tops Lime Rock Practice 2

Antonio Garcia was quickest in the second practice session of the day for Saturday’s FCP Euro Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, putting Corvette Racing atop the overall time sheets in the GT-only weekend.

Garcia’s 51.029-second lap time in the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R GTD was 0.126 seconds quicker than the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth, who ended the hour-plus long session second.

Patrick Pilet slotted his No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R third overall and in class in the closing stages, ahead of the Jules Gonon-driven No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in fourth.

The No. 23 The Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of Ross Gunn completed the top-five, which saw all GTD Pro cars stacked at the top end of the overall charts.

GTD was led by the No. 70 Inception Racing McLaren 720S GT3 Evo of Frederik Schandorff, thanks to a 51.589 lap time by the Dane.

His time was 0.114 seconds quicker than the No. 78 Forte Racing by US RaceTronics Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 of Misha Goikhberg, with the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 of Robby Foley third on the class time charts.

The session featured an early red flag for debris from an unidentified car that was laid down on the front stretch, and ran incident-free for the remainder of the session.

Qualifying is set to get underway at 5:40 p.m. EDT with live coverage on IMSA.tv.
