De Phillippi Quickest in Two-Day Indianapolis Test

Connor De Phillippi led a BMW M Team RLL 1-2 in official testing for September’s Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The pair of BMW M Hybrid V8s topped the time charts at the end of two days of IMSA-sanctioned testing at The Brickyard, which saw a total of 21 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship cars take part.

De Phillippi’s 1:14.655 lap time in the No. 25 BMW was 0.103 seconds quicker than the sister entry, driven by Jesse Krohn.

The No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac V-Series.R of Sebastien Bourdais wound up third quickest, followed by the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-06 of Colin Braun in fourth and Matt Campbell’s No. 7 Penske Porsche 963, which completed the top-five overall and in the GTP class.

The top five best times all came during the fourth and final timed session on Saturday.

Mike Rockenfeller led the way in the opening day in his No. 5 JDC-Miller Motorsports Porsche.

LMP2 was topped by the No. 11 TDS Racing Oreca 07 Gibson of Mikkel Jensen, while Wayne Boyd led the way in LMP3 in his AWA Duqueine D08 Nissan.

GTD saw Misha Goikhberg quickest for Forte Racing by US RaceTronics, while the lone GTD Pro entry from Vasser Sullivan Racing, in the hands of Jack Hawksworth, was third fastest amongst the GT cars.

Teams will return to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Battle on the Bricks on Sept. 15-17.
