Louis Deletraz made a late-session improvement to go quickest again in the second and final IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practice prior to qualifying for Sunday’s StubHub Monterey SportsCar Championship.

Deletraz reeled off a 1:14.183 flyer in the No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R to edge out the No. 24 Team WRT BMW M Hybrid V8 of Dries Vanthoor by 0.183 seconds.

Jack Aitken was third quickest in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series.R, with Nick Yelloly and Laurin Heinrich completing the top-five for Acura Meyer Shank Racing and JDC-Miller Motorsports, respectively.

The 90-minute session ran without any red flags, although there were two notable incidents in the GTP class.

The biggest came when the No. 10 WTR Cadillac of Filipe Albuquerque clipped one of the BMW GTPs at the top of the hill, heading into the Corkscrew, and spun into the barriers, escaping what could have been a major accident.

Albuquerque brought the car back to the pits but it was later taken behind the wall with right-rear damage from the clash with the BMW.

Earlier in the session, the No. 6 Penske Porsche of Kevin Estre backed his Apple throwback liveried entry into the Turn 5 barriers, sustaining bodywork damage.

The No. 10 WTR Cadillac ended up sixth quickest, while Estre’s Porsche brought up the rear of the 11-car GTP field.

GTD Pro was led by the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth, while Lorenzo Patrese, filling in for Manny Franco, paced the GTD class in the No. 34 Conquest Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo.

Qualifying is set for 3:15 p.m. PST (6:15 p.m. EST) with live coverage on Peacock and IMSA’s YouTube channel.
