Derani Quickest in Practice 3 at Watkins Glen

Pipo Derani posted the quickest time in the third Practice session for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, putting the No. 2 Tequila Patrón ESM Ligier JS P2 Honda on top ahead of Qualifying later today.

Derani reeled off a time of 1:35.484, the fastest of the weekend so far, improving on Olivier Pla’s time from yesterday by a margin of 0.631 seconds.

Jonathan Bomarito ended the session in second in the No. 55 Mazda Prototype, while the Michael Shank Racing Ligier JS P2 Honda that dominated the timing screens yesterday came in third this time around.

Corvette DPs occupied positions four up until seven, with the No. 5 Action Express entry of Christian Fittipaldi in fourth.

Colin Braun put the No. 54 CORE Autosport Oreca FLM09 on top in Prototype Challenge.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing and BMW Team RLL continued to set the pace in GT Le Mans, with Richard Westbrook’s No. 67 Ford GT and Dirk Werner’s No. 25 BMW M6 GTLM separated by only 0.012s.

GT Daytona saw the No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS GT3 of Matt Bell end up quickest, ahead of the No. 23 Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R of Mario Farnbacher (+0.151s).

So far Stevenson Motorsports has led every Practice this weekend.

The session was interrupted once to recover a PC car going off at Turn 9.

Qualifying is set to get underway at 3:40 p.m. ET.
