John Edwards led the way in opening practice for Saturday’s FCP Euro Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park.

The BMW factory driver took the No. 25 Team RLL BMW M4 GT3 to a quick lap of 51.735 seconds to outpace the GTD class-leading No. 39 CarBahn with Peregrine Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of Robert Megennis by 0.079 seconds.

Jack Hawksworth, in his return to the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3, was third overall on the time sheets and second in the GTD Pro class, followed by the GTD class points-leading No. 32 Team Korthoff Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Mike Skeen in fourth.

The No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Matt Campbell, who leads the GTD Pro class, completed the top-five overall and was third quickest in class.

Philip Ellis was sixth overall in the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes, followed by the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R GTD of Antonio Garcia and Jules Gounon’s No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Mercedes, which is now running in the GTD class for the remainder of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

The session ran without any red flags although there was an incident for the No. 51 Rick Ware Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 of Aidan Read, who had an off-course excursion in Turn 5 but continued under the car’s own power to pit lane.

It was then taken behind the wall for repairs to the front-end.

Practice 2 gets underway at 3:05 p.m. ET.
