Farfus Quickest in Warmup as Taylor Crashes

Augusto Farfus was quickest in warmup for this afternoon’s Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, in a session that saw an accident for the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport Acura ARX-06 of Ricky Taylor.

Farfus took the No. 24 Team RLL BMW M Hybrid V8 to a best lap of 1:16.009 in the 20-minute session, besting the No. 6 Penske Porsche 963 of Mathieu Jaminet by 0.136 seconds.

The sister No. 25 BMW of Nick Yelloly was third on the time charts.

Taylor’s WTR Andretti Acura was unable to set a representative time in the session after he lost control of the car 0n cold tires and backed the GTP class entry into the tire barriers.

While returning to the pits for a rear-deck change, the car was brought to the garage area for an alignment check after initial repairs were made on pit road.

Mikkel Jensen was quickest in LMP2 in the No. 11 TDS Racing Oreca 07 Gibson while Joao Barbosa put the No. 33 Sean Creech Motorsport Ligier JS P320 Nissan on top in LMP3.

The No. 77 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Trent Hindman paced the production-based ranks, which saw GTD cars take the seven quickest times.

Ross Gunn was the best GTD Pro entry in his No. 23 The Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

Forty-two of the 48 starters turned laps in the session.

The Battle on the Bricks gets underway at 1 p.m. EDT with live coverage on network NBC.
