PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports announced today that Anders Fjordbach will join its LMP2 program for this weekend’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
The 28-year-old Dane, who has extensive endurance racing experience, joins full-season drivers Matt McMurry and Gabriel Aubry in the team’s Oreca 07 Gibson lineup for the second round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
“Sebring is one of the classics and one of the races I have watched for many years while racing in Europe and Asia. I am so happy to make my American racing debut at Sebring with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports,” Fjordbach said.
“I believe we have a strong package and we can reach for the top step Saturday evening.
“I must thank Chris McMurry, my teammate in Asian Le Mans for giving me this chance! I can’t wait to be in Florida!”
The Bobby Oergel-led team arrives at Sebring as one of only two LMP2 competitors, following the decision by Rolex 24 at Daytona class winners DragonSpeed to not extend its IMSA program beyond the season-opener.
Practice for WeatherTech Championship competitors kicks off on Thursday.
