Antonio Garcia will start Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen from the pole in GT Le Mans, with the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R outpacing the pair of Ford GTs for top qualifying honors in tomorrow’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round.

Garcia laid down a 1:40.799 lap time late in the running, following a session-long duel with Richard Westbrook in the No. 67 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing entry.

It marked Garcia’s fourth career pole and his first since Lime Rock last year.

The Spaniard ended up 0.317 seconds faster than Westbrook’s Ford, with Joey Hand’s initial quick lap time that put him third on the grid having been disallowed due to exceeding track limits.

It promoted the No. 3 Corvette of Tommy Milner to third, ahead of John Edwards, who made it three different manufacturers in the top-four in the No. 24 Team RLL BMW M8 GTE.

Hand, meanwhile, will roll off fifth in class, ahead of BMW’s Connor De Phillippi and the pair of factory Porsche 911 RSRs, which struggled in the session with track limits violations.

Class championship leaders Laurens Vanthoor and Earl Bamber, who are seeking their third consecutive win, qualified dead last, 1.4 seconds adrift from Garcia’s pole-sitting time after completing only five laps due to a slow puncture.

Meyer Shank Racing Acuras Sweep GTD

Trent Hindman led a 1-2 qualifying sweep for Meyer Shank Racing in the GT Daytona class.

The championship leader reeled off a 1:44.978 in his No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 Evo to edge out teammate Christina Nielsen by 0.317 seconds.

It marked Hindman’s second career WeatherTech Championship pole, becoming the first repeat pole-winner of the season.

Hindman will share driving duties with Mario Farnbacher and Justin Marks tomorrow.

Dillon Machavern qualified the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 in third, followed by Jeff Westphal’s Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3 in fourth.

Ricardo Feller completed the top-five in class in the No. 29 Montaplast by Land Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo.

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen gets underway Sunday at 10 a.m. ET.
