Teams in the new IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTP class carried out their final on-track preparations for the Rolex 24 at Daytona in an incident-free 20-minute practice session on Friday evening.

Renger van der Zande set the fastest lap time of 1:36.742 in the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac V-LMDh, however the short session resembled a warmup as teams focused on checking systems rather than exerting outright pace.

Six of the nine LMDh cars turned laps, with the Acura ARX-06s from Meyer Shank Racing and Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport staying behind the wall.

The same applied to the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac, although Ganassi ran both of its Cadillacs along with the pairs of factory Porsche 963s and BMW M Hybrid V8s.

Alex Lynn finished second in the times behind his Ganassi teammate van der Zande, while Connor De Phillippi was third for the No. 25 BMW M Team RLL crew.

With all of the practice sessions completed, attention now turns to the first race for the new LMDh platform which gets underway at 1:40 p.m. ET on Saturday.

RESULTS: Practice 5
