JDC-Miller MotorSports has completed a two day test at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in Southern California this week with full season regular Chris Miller behind the wheel of the No. 85 car.
The team has been confirmed by IMSA following the Rolex 24 at Daytona as a full season entry of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Prototype Challenge category starting with the Twelve Hours of Sebring.
The team announced earlier that 24-year-old Minnesota native Chris Miller will be one of their full-time drivers for the program in 2014 so to no surprise the honor fell to Chris to be the first one to drive the car and do the initial function shake down on Monday.
“It’s been a while since I was in a car but everything went flawless right from the start so we could start directly getting up to speed which obviously is what we need, track and seat time for the new program ,” said Miller.
Miller was joined for the first day by series veteran Tomy Drissi, who assisted Miller in getting up to speed and more comfortable in the car.
“Obviously we are extremely excited about the news that IMSA accepted our full season entry after the first race was run last month with the 24 hours of Daytona,” said John Church, co-owner of JDC-Miller MotorSports. “This now gives us planning security not only for the 2014 season but also for the future.
“I think last month’s Rolex 24 hours at Daytona race has shown the enormous interest in sportscar racing in the U.S. and the bright future the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship has ahead and we certainly would like to be a part of it,” stated Church.
“It was great that Tomy could join us for the first test. He has so much experience in the Prototype Challenge car and was a huge help for Chris as well as the entire team .
“There is still a lot to do to get ready, but we feel we will have a very strong team and driver lineup. Some of them already have substantial experience in prototype and endurance racing which will obviously be a huge help.”
The next test is scheduled to take place at Sebring International Raceway directly ahead of the 12 hours of Sebring on March 12-15.
