European Le Mans Series front-runner Mikkel Jensen has joined Starworks Motorsport’s LMP2 driver lineup for Motul Petit Le Mans and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The Danish driver, who competes for G-Drive Racing in ELMS, is set to make his IMSA debut in the final two rounds of the Michelin Endurance Cup season.

Jensen is testing the Starworks Oreca 07 Gibson this week at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, where the 10-hour Petit Le Mans enduro is taking place in two weeks’ time.

Starworks has yet to confirm its full driver lineup for Petit Le Mans and the Sebring season finale on Nov. 14, but it’s understood that Jensen has replaced Ryan Dalziel who stepped down from his drive with the Florida-based team last month.

Starworks contested the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January with Dalziel, John Farano, David Heinemeier Hansson and quadruple 24 Hours of Le Mans LMP2 winner Nicolas Lapierre.

Dalziel and Farano also ran at Sebring for round two, but the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic forced the team to make changes to its planned full-season program.

This resulted in Starworks forgoing the remaining IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship ‘sprint’ races this year to focus on an endurance-only campaign.
