Sean Johnston will make his Rolex 24 at Daytona debut with Performance Tech Motorsports next week, joining fellow race debutantes James Vance, James French and Jerome Mee in the team’s Prototype Challenge class No. 38 Oreca FLM09.
The signing brings things full circle for Johnston, who wrote on Twitter Friday that he used to work as a junior engineer for the team, and went over the wall to assist with driver changes.
Johnston raced the majority of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season last season and ended 16th in points.
He won the 2012 IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup championship and made his American Le Mans Series debut in that year’s Petit Le Mans, co-driving a JDX Racing Porsche GT3 Cup car in the GTC class.
