Lamborghini factory driver Marco Mapelli will join Misha Goikhberg at the wheel of Grasser Racing Team’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo in Saturday’s Chevrolet Sports Car Classic at Detroit’s Belle Isle, it has been confirmed.
The Italian, who is fresh off competing in last weekend’s Nürburgring 24, will make his second start of the WeatherTech Championship season for the Austrian squad after being in the team’s No. 111 entry at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Mapelli will shift to the GRT’s season-long No. 19 entry, which missed the most recent round at Mid-Ohio but has been confirmed for the 100-minute street race.
It will mark Goikberg’s first start since Daytona after being ruled out of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring due to an illness. He was replaced at the last minute by Stephen Simpson.
The Gottfried Grasser-run team is pulling double duty this weekend between Detroit and its four-car Lamborghini entry in the ADAC GT Masters round at the Red Bull Ring.
