The wraps will be taken off Mazda’s new-for-2017 prototype challenger next week, with the unveil of its DPi set for the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Masahiro Moro, President and CEO, Mazda North American Operations, Mazda Motorsports director John Doonan and Ken Saward, Sr. Manager of Design, Mazda Design Americas, will be on hand for the presentation of the 2017 Multimatic-Riley-based Mazda DPi, scheduled for Wednesday at 12:50 p.m. PST.

Jonathan Bomarito, Tom Long, Joel Miller and Tristan Nunez, who are all expected to return to the SpeedSource-run Mazda Motorsports squad next year, will also be in attendance for the worldwide premiere.

Mazda is expected to become the first manufacturer to unveil its DPi contender, although the Dallara-based Cadillac could also be revealed next week.

Also at the LA Auto Show will be Porsche’s new 911 GTE car, which will be formally presented, ahead of its competition debut in January’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.
