Milner Quickest in Final Practice at Charlotte

Tommy Milner wound up quickest in the second and final practice session prior to qualifying for this evening’s Motul 100% Synthetic Grand Prix at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval.

The Corvette Racing driver laid down a best lap of 1:13.935 in the closing stages of the session, which started in damp but drying conditions.

Milner edged out the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Fred Makowiecki by 0.168 seconds.

Friday evening’s pacesetter, Jesse Krohn, was third quickest in the No. 24 Team RLL BMW M8 GTE, followed by the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R of Jordan Taylor and Laurens Vanthoor’s No. 912 Porsche.

Times tumbled in the in the closing moments of the session following the resumption of racing from a red flag for the No. 22 Gradient Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo of Marc Miller, which stopped on track with a loose wheel.

Bill Auberlen led the way in the GT Daytona class, thanks to a 1:19.475 lap time set in the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3.

It was 0.467 seconds faster than the No. 74 Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Lawson Aschenbach, who was second on the time sheets.

The pair of AIM Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3s were third and fourth quickest in class, with the No. 12 car returning to action after an accident by Michael de Quesada on Friday night.

Andy Lally completed the top-five in class in the No. 44 GRT Magnus Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo.

Qualifying is set for 2 p.m. EDT.
