Montoya Quickest in Warmup at Mid-Ohio

Juan Pablo Montoya led the way in warmup for this afternoon’s Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio.

The Acura Team Penske driver recorded a best lap of 1:15.392 in the 20-minute session, which was run under full dry conditions.

Montoya edged out the No. 77 Team Joest Mazda RT24-P of Tristan Nunez by 0.474 seconds, with Ricky Taylor third in the sister Team Penske Acura ARX-05.

Earl Bamber (No. 912 Porsche 911 RSR), Bill Auberlen (No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3) and Matt McMurry (No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson) led their respective classes.

No major incidents were reported, other than a minor off-course excursion for the No. 57 Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo of Katherine Legge.

All cars except for the No. 19 Moorespeed Audi R8 LMS Evo turned laps.

The Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio gets underway at 1:30 p.m. EDT with live coverage on NBCSN and IMSA Radio.
