NGT Motorsport Withdraws From GTD

NGT Motorsport announced Tuesday that it has withdrawn from the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship with immediate effect.

The Florida-based team, which has fielded the MOMO-sponsored No. 30 Porsche 911 GT America in the first five rounds of the championship, will not take part in the remainder of the season except for the Circuit of The Americas round in September.

Business and family obligations for MOMO partner/driver Henrique Cisneros, who missed last month’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, has led to the decision to park the car.

“Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions and this is one of those times for me,” said Cisneros. “Racing is such a joy in my life, however at this current time I need to focus on business and family.

“Turmoil in my home country of Venezuela is affecting both of these and that needs to be the center of my attention right now.

“I love racing and hate to step out of it and leave my teammates, Kuba [Giermaziak] and Christina [Nielsen], and Ramez [Wahab, NGT team owner] on the sidelines for most of the rest of the year, but it is what I must do. I look forward to the race in Austin in September and hope things improve in Venezuela and I can return to racing regularly.”

Cisneros and season-long co-driver Kuba Giermaziak are confirmed to race the COTA round on Sept. 18-20.

NGT’s withdrawal drops the entry for this weekend’s Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park to 40 entries, including a still-strong 19-car field in GT Daytona.

Eduardo Cisneros, Henrique’s brother, will continue to compete in the IMSA GT3 Cup Championship.
