The 29th Motul Petit Le Mans has been red-flagged for lightning in the area, with just under four hours completed.

IMSA called the red during the race’s sixth full-course caution, which came immediately on a restart when the two United Autosports Oreca 07 Gibsons collided at pit-entry.

The No. 6 Penske Porsche 963 of Kevin Estre pitted from second upon the initial green flag, which saw Sheldon van der Linde lead the field to green as the only GTP car still on slicks.

The rain arrived early in the fourth hour, which saw the majority of the cars dive into pit lane for wet-weather Michelin tires.

Parker Thompson led LMP2 in the No. 52 Bryan Herta Autosport with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson, while Tommy Milner (Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports) and Albert Costa (Conquest Racing) led the production-based ranks.

The red flag will be out until at least 4:12 p.m. EST, due to a lightning strike that leads to an automatic 30-minute hold.
