Sportscar365 is contacting drivers from around the world to ask what they’re doing during the coronavirus pandemic and how they’re coping with the racing downtime.

Tower Motorsports by Starworks (IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship) and DXDT Racing (GT World Challenge America powered by AWS) driver Ryan Dalziel (Twitter/Instagram), answers our questions.

Where are you sitting out the COVID-19 crisis?

In Windermere, Florida.

What have been some of the challenges of largely staying at home for you?

Well, we sold our home first day on the market and are building a new house but that won’t be completed till hopefully November (new lot, pictured above). So in the meantime, it’s me, my wife, our two dogs crashing at my parents’ house (pictured below).

For sure that alone is the most challenging part. Trying to not all shout at each other!

Current favorite Netflix/TV show?

Ozark Season 3, and Below Deck Marathons.

What’s the one thing you currently can’t have that you miss the most, other than racing?

Dining out. My wife and I love eating out, love to socialize with our friends and family.

Do you have any pets?

We have two dogs. 11-year-old Great Pyrenees – Veronica Corningstone – and 7-month-old German Shepherd – Zoe! She’s a lot of work…

Who has been your biggest inspiration in the sport?

Pretty much every successful Scottish driver to be honest. Scotland does not, and has not ever supported its athletes, so it’s amazing that so many have become professionals.

But if I have to pick one it’s always Dario [Franchitti]. He is very close to my family. Oh and Rodney Sandstorm…

Is there a different form of motorsport you would like to try your hand at?

I would love to try WRC or any form of rally, always have going back to watching Colin McRae growing up.

What’s the one thing you are most looking forward to the first day you return to a race track?

Seeing all my great crew and others in the paddock. Racing is for sure one big family and this is certainly proving how close we all are.
