Sean Rayhall will join 3GT Racing for next month’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, as well as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans, it has been confirmed.

The reigning European Le Mans Series LMP3 champion has taken the seat of the newly-retired Scott Pruett in the No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 alongside full-season drivers Jack Hawksworth and David Heinemeier Hansson for the two Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup races.

3GT’s sister Lexus remains with an unchanged lineup of Kyle Marcelli and Dominik Baumann and Philipp Frommenwiler for Sebring.

Rayhall, who made his GT Daytona class debut in last month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona with HART, is expected to get his first laps in the Lexus at this week’s IMSA-sanctioned Sebring Test.

The Silver-rated driver has previous WeatherTech Championship experience in both the Prototype and Prototype Challenge ranks, most recently with the DeltaWing in 2016.

Bit ironic given his fisticuffs with their ex-drivers, but a good crew nonetheless.

How is Sean still a Silver driver?? I’m not questioning his status as a Silver, more how he has not been picked up to be in a position that would require him to be upgraded, if that makes any sense. I’m guessing he doesn’t have the huge backing to move him up in sportscars?

I saw him 4 years ago in a POURING rain enduro race at the HSR vintage race The Mitty and damn was he crushing the field in an old 914. He was passing cars well above his class with relative ease and was fun to watch through to Esses.

Two years ago, when he was with Delta Wing, I watched him in Plymouth Wisconsin on the dirt track. He came over there after racing at Road America to try his hand at some winged sprint cars. He is a very good driver!

He is the perfect match for Gentilozzi. Same classless crowd, they will get along well. I can’t believe Lexus is in bed with these types of clowns.

From what I hear it’s not Rayhall’s first experience of Sage’s sloppy seconds haha!
