IMSA has appointed Gary Savage as its new WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Series Manager, the sanctioning body confirmed last weekend.

Savage, the former director of motorsports and OEM at Braille Battery, takes the position previously held by Geoffrey Carter, who has been promoted to Senior Director of Technical Regulations and Compliance, in a new position.

The change, which strengthens IMSA’s expanding competition department, took effect at the beginning of the year, with both Savage and Carter in their new roles at last weekend’s Roar Before the 24.

I’ve known Gary for 25 years or so. Class act, and an avid motorsports junkie. They made a good choice.

fyi Gary financed the 1970 Baracuda effort in the late 90s/early 2000s with money acquired by selling stolen uniforms from Swede Savages widow Sheryl..(if you don’t know who Swede savage is please ‘google)

Gary, class act? He was passing himself off as Swede Savages son for years. Probably how he got his foot into racing. His birth name is Gary Seidel. I don’t like people using someone else’s name to benefit themselves. The REAL Savage Family has posted this on Facebook. Check it out.

Gary Savage has a horrible reputation back in the late 90s/early 2000s telling people he was ‘Swede Savages’ son as part of a ploy to fleece unsuspecting race fans out of $ so he could finance his ‘hobby’ (his real name is ‘Seidel’

Hire Gary if you want. But I am Swede Savages brother, and I want to make it pefctly clear that Gary is in no way related to Swede. Swede has a daughter named Angela, and a son named John. I am his only blood sibling. Gary’s claims that he is Swede’s son, are totally false.

He is defrauding the racing community and obtaining funds based on that fraud. Do not support him.

It has been well known for sometime for those of us who are Indy fans and Facebook friends of Angela Savage that Gary Savage is not a Savage by blood and has used this name to imply that he is part of the Savage family which he is not. I am surprised and concerned that IMSA is not aware of this.
