Vasser Sullivan will return to running two GTD Pro entries in next weekend’s Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic, with Jack Hawksworth making his class comeback.
Confirmed on Wednesday, Hawksworth will sub for the still-injured Ben Barnicoat in the No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3, with Parker Thompson and Frankie Montecalvo in the additional No. 15 entry for the 100-minute race.
The team fielded the No. 15 Lexus in last year’s event on the downtown streets for the same pairing, which finished fourth in class.
It is the only significant change to the 22-car overall entry list for the race, which features 11 GTP and 11 GTD Pro entries for the second and final IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship street race of the season.
The only other adjustment since the last round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is the return of Earl Bamber to the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series.R, alongside Jack Aitken.
Bamber missed Laguna Seca due to his clashing FIA World Endurance Championship commitments in Spa.
Porsche Penske Motorsport enters Detroit so-far undefeated in the GTP class, with the No. 7 Porsche 963 of Nick Tandy and Felipe Nasr out front ahead of teammates Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell, who scored their first victory of the season at Laguna Seca.
GTD Pro sees AO Racing’s Porsche 911 GT3 R of Laurin Heinrich and Klaus Bachler in the points lead after taking their second consecutive class win in Laguna Seca.
Track action kicks off next Friday, May 30, with practice and qualifying, ahead of the 100-minute race on Sat. May 31 at 3:40 p.m. EST, with live coverage on Peacock and YouTube for international viewers.
