Nolan Siegel and Jonny Edgar will complete Sean Creech Motorsport’s lineup for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, with the pair of 19-year-olds joining full season drivers Joao Barbosa and Lance Willsey behind the wheel of the team’s Ligier JS P217 Gibson.

Confirmed on Thursday, Siegel rejoins the team after helping take SCM to a second-place LMP3 class finish at Daytona last year, while fellow open-wheel rising star Edgar is set for his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut.

“It’s great to be back with SCM,” said Siegel, who has been elevated to FIA Gold driver rating. “It’s fun to work with people who are so passionate about what they do.

“It’s a different approach this year since we’re developing the car rather than focusing on fine-tuning and putting in a quick qualifying lap.

“Testing has been fun for the drivers and the engineers, taking big swings at it, trying radical ideas.”

Englishman Edgar got his first laps in the Ligier LMP2 car during last month’s IMSA-sanctioned test at Daytona International Speedway.

“I was impressed with the team and the car at the test last month,” he said. “If we keep going in the direction we were going at the test, we’ll be in good shape.

“It seemed to me that technique and feel were quite similar to other cars I’ve driven, but obviously the multi-class aspect as well as the night running are very different from what I’m used to.

“But I have very experienced teammates and will learn a great deal at the Roar, all the little bits that add up in a 24-hour race.”

This year’s Rolex 24 will mark Willsey’s 15th start in the Florida endurance classic.

“The age of our lineup up looks a bit like a barbell, doesn’t it?” said Willsey. “I’m 62, Joao is 48, and the two youngsters are all of 19.

“I’m very much looking forward to the full season with Joao, we had some great achievements in the LMP3 car – and I’m looking forward to being a part of the reintroduction of the Ligier P2 car.

“We’re excited to have Nolan back this year, he was a welcome late addition last year. It’s been good to have him on board early, through testing.

“We’re also happy to introduce Jonny Edgar to the U.S. sports car audience. We’ve been impressed with him, both in and out of the car.”

Barbosa added: “It’s a different approach this year. The team and the drivers know the work that will come this month to be ready for 24 hours. It’s proven to be reliable so far and the team has done a great job.

“We’ll continue to work on the car, continue to understand what it wants.”
