Stephen Simpson will sub for Misha Goikhberg in the No. 19 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo in this weekend’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
Goikhberg, who was due to share driving duties with Tim Zimmermann and Lamborghini factory driver Franck Perera, has been ruled out due to an unknown illness according to team principal Gottfried Grasser.
“Misha is unfortunately ill,” Grasser told Sportscar365. “We don’t know what exactly but he’s checking. Unfortunately it’s a real shame because we had a really good test.
“The replacement driver is his former colleague in DPi, Stephen Simpson.
“It’s a good replacement but unfortunately we would have loved to have Misha here but it can’t be at the moment.”
Simpson, who is already on-site competing in Michelin Pilot Challenge action, will get his first laps in the Austrian squad’s Lamborghini in this morning’s opening practice session for the Twelve Hours.
Goikhberg was due to complete the full season in the team’s Lamborghini alongside Perera.
