Jordan Taylor led the way in opening practice for Sunday’s America’s Tire 250, with the champions-elect showing the early edge at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Taylor reeled off a 1:18.462 in the No. 10 Cadillac DPi-V.R, edging out the No. 2 Tequila Patron ESM Nissan Onroak DPi of Ryan Dalziel by 0.166 seconds.
The No. 90 Visit Florida Racing Ligier JS P217 Gibson of Renger van der Zande was third on the time charts in the 60-minute session.
Ford Chip Ganassi Racing were 1-2 in GT Le Mans, led by a 1:23.344 lap by Ryan Briscoe in the No. 67 Ford GT, with Patrick Long topping GT Daytona in the No. 28 Alegra Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.
No major incidents were reported, other than an issue for the No. 50 WeatherTech Racing Porsche, which joined the session late after nose damage.
