Two of the three BMW M4 GT3s entered in this weekend’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach have lost times in qualifying due to engine-related infractions.
Both the No. 25 Team RLL and No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMWs, which had qualified second in GTD Pro and GTD respectively, were stripped of three lap times each due to “exceeding maximum engine speed permitted by the GTD technical regulations” according to an IMSA spokesperson.
Connor De Phillippi lost Laps 3, 4 and 5 in qualifying while Robby Foley was stripped of his times from Laps 5, 6 and 7.
It has unofficially demoted the No. 25 BMW to 25th overall and sixth in GTD Pro, with the No. 96 Turner entry set to start 19th overall and eighth in GTD.
No penalties were issued to the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW, which scored GTD pole in the hands of Madison Snow.
