Simon Trummer laid down a 1:51.644 lap time to go quickest overall in the third and final IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practice session prior to qualifying for Sunday’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase.

The JDC-Miller Motorsports driver outpaced a trio of DPi cars in the 60-minute session at Road America, setting the fastest lap of the weekend.

Trummer, in the No. 85 Oreca 07 Gibson was 0.755 seconds quicker than the No. 2 Tequila Patron ESM Nissan Onroak DPi of Ryan Dalziel and the No. 77 Team Joest Mazda RT24-P of Oliver Jarvis, who ended the session third on the time charts.

Colin Braun made it two LMP2 cars in the top-four, with the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R of Jordan Taylor completing the top-five.

JDC-Miller had an up-and-down session, with the team’s Watkins Glen-winning No. 99 Oreca suffering suspension-related damage in the hands of Mikahil Goikhberg.

While the Russian managed to bring the car back to the pits, the GAINSCO-sponsored entry ended the session 13th and last on the Prototype time charts.

BMW Team RLL led the way in GT Le Mans, with the No. 24 BMW M8 GTE of Jesse Krohn setting the pace, while the No. 73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Joerg Bergmeister led the way in GT Daytona.

ESM, Riley Return After Rebuilds

Both the No. 22 ESM Nissan DPi and No. 33 Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 returned to action following rebuilds for both teams from incidents on Friday.

The ESM entry recorded the 9th quickest time overall and in class in the hands of Pipo Derani, who escaped injury in a fire in opening practice that sidelined the car for much of the day.

Riley’s newly built up spare Mercedes, meanwhile, was third on the time charts in GTD, thanks to Jeroen Bleekemolen’s 2:06.580 lap time in the session.

It came after an overnight rebuild of the car around a spare Mercedes chassis following an accident by Ben Keating in Practice 1. The team was reportedly at the track until 4 a.m. undergoing the car swap.

Qualifying gets underway at 12:35 p.m. CDT.
