Van Overbeek Leads Monterey Second Practice

Earlier today Extreme Speed Motorsports announced it would buy a pair of new HPD ARX-04b coupes, but their current cars were on target in second practice for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix.

Johannes van Overbeek clocked a flier of 1:19.785, the first car in that 1:19 range, in the No. 2 ESM HPD ARX-03b open-top chassis to lead second practice. Richard Westbrook (No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP) and JVO’s ESM teammate Ryan Dalziel in the No. 1 HPD was third.

Other class leaders were Bruno Junqueira (No. 09 RSR Racing Oreca FLM09, PC), John Edwards (No. 56 BMW Team RLL BMW Z4 GTE, GTLM) and Andy Lally (No. 44 Magnus Racing Porsche 911 GT America, GTD).

Qualifying began immediately after practice concluded.
