Johannes van Overebeek will return to Tequila Patron ESM for the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, again teaming up with Pipo Derani in the No. 22 Nissan Onroak DPi.

It will mark van Overbeek’s ninth year with the Scott Sharp-owned team, and will be looking to build on the recent success of the team’s first win with the Nissan DPi at Road America last month.

“Every year has had its challenges and its success, I’m sure next year will be no different,” he said. “The team is as strong as it has ever been and I look forward to continuing my working relationship with the team and Pipo to deliver the results that are due Tequila Patrón ESM and its partners.”

Drivers for the team’s No. 2 Nissan DPi, which is currently shared by Sharp and Ryan Dalziel, will be announced in the coming weeks.

“The entire ESM Patron team is thrilled to have Johannes back for next season,” Sharp said. “He was one of the first to join us when ESM was formed, and next year will be our ninth season together.

“Johannes sets the mark for how a true professional driver handles himself on and off the track and with his win a few weeks ago at Road America, he showed he is as fast as ever! I expect the pairing of him and Pipo to be very formidable.”

i really like JVO, but i really feel like there are faster drivers available. he is a very safe pair of hands so they might just be going for someone to keep it in a good position and keep it out of trouble.
