Kyle Washington is set for his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut in this weekend’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, having been confirmed alongside GMG Racing team principal James Sofronas in the team’s Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Washington, a regular competitor in SRO America, will form the Am-Am driver pairing in the 100-minute race.

It will mark GMG’s first WeatherTech Championship outing since 2014 as a potential precursor to an expanded program with Washington in the series next year.

Sportscar365 understands that Washington has also recently entered the Indianapolis 8 Hour with the car, along with the purchase of new pit lane equipment for the upcoming stretch of races.

The GMG entry is one of four Porsches entered in the GT Daytona class for the race, joining season-log entrants Wright Motorsports, Team Hardpoint and Pfaff Motorsports.

A total of 17 GTD cars are entered for Saturday’s race.
