Team WRT Speedstar has named its four-man squad for its debut in the Rolex 24 at Daytona next month.

The Belgian squad’s entry to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship opener, in association with Speedstar Motorsport and Audi Canada with an Audi R8 LMS Evo, was confirmed by Sportsar365 on Wednesday.

Audi factory drivers Kelvin van der Linde and Frederic Vervisch will share driving duties with experienced sports car racer Ian James and 17-year-old Canadian Roman de Angelis.

Nurburgring 24 winner Van der Linde made his IMSA debut in last year’s Rolex 24 where he finished seventh in the GTD class driving a Montaplast by Land Motorsport Audi.

Touring car and GT racer Vervisch, who became an Audi factory driver last year, is set to make his first U.S racing appearance since the 2009 IMSA Atlantic Championship.

Joining the factory pair is De Angelis, who won the 2017 Porsche Cup Canada series and finished second on his graduation to the GT3 Cup Challenge USA this season.

The lineup is completed by 44-year-old James who is gearing up for his 11th appearance in the Rolex 24 and his first with an Audi team, having raced Porsches, Riley DPs and a Lexus in the past.

Daniel Lloyd is a UK-based reporter for Sportscar365, covering the FIA World Endurance Championship, Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, among other series.
