Jordan Taylor topped a rain-affected first practice for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this weekend, posting the fastest time in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP right before a rain shower soaked the track.

A morning shower already made for a slightly wet damp at the beginning of the session, with damp patches accompanying a dry racing line.

As the drivers began to get up to speed, the rain made a return 25 minutes into the session, resulting in no further changes on the timing screens.

Jordan Taylor’s 1:11.158 was almost one-second quicker than the No. 55 Mazda Motorsports in the hands of Tristan Nunez, which is still running its orange-and-green Le Mans tribute livery this weekend.

The No. 90 Visit Florida Racing Corvette DP of Ryan Dalziel ended the session in third, in front of the No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Ligier JS P2 Honda and DeltaWing.

GT Le Mans saw a Corvette 1-2 before the rain soaked the track, with Oliver Gavin’s No. 4 C7.R leading the sister No. 3 car of Antonio Garcia by only 22 thousandths of a second.

The No. 25 BMW Team RLL M6 GTLM, No. 67 Chip Ganassi Racing GT Ford GT and No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR completed the top-five in GTLM.

Tom Kimber-Smith was quickest in Prototype Challenge in his No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca FLM09 with the sixth quickest time overall, while Andy Lally led the way in GT Daytona in his No. 44 Magnus Racing Audi R8 LMS.

There were no notable incidents nor red flags in the 60-minute session.

There’s a possibility for rain during for qualifying tomorrow, so wet running could still come in valuable this weekend.

Practice 2 is scheduled for 2:55 p.m. ET.
