TR3 Racing will expand into a three-car Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America program for selected races this year with the addition of Elias De La Torre to its lineup.

The 18-year-old Floridian is set to compete in the Pro class of the one-make series, piloting the team’s No. 29 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 as a solo driver in the Pro class.

De La Torre will contest selected Super Trofeo rounds that do not conflict with his existing Porsche Carrera Cup North America commitments, beginning with this weekend’s third and fourth rounds of the season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

“I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to compete with the race-winning team TR3 Racing, for the second round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Championship at Laguna Seca,” said De La Torre.

“After a successful two-day test at Sebring in April, my team and I agreed that it would be the best course of action to get our feet wet in the intense competition this series provides.

“I want to thank my dad and the entire TR3 program for the opportunity and I’ll give it my absolute all to achieve the results we aspire for.”

De La Torre joins the team’s fellow Pro class competitors Ernie Francis Jr. and Giano Taurino, who took victory in the second race of the weekend at Sebring International Raceway in March.

The Miami-based operation also fields a LB Cup class entry for Rodrigo Vales and Rogelio Perusquia.

“We are very excited to have Elias join us for Laguna Seca and hopefully more rounds in the future,” said TR3 CEO Gregory Romanelli.

“With our new partnership with HCB, we look forward to growing the relationship and what better way to be racing together.

“Elias had tremendous pace from the second he sat in the car. So let’s see what we can accomplish together in Laguna.

“We are also thrilled to be partnering with Lamborghini Orlando as it’s there first time in Super Trofeo.”
