Formal Fastest in Super Trofeo Practice at Monza

Newly-crowned Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Pro-Am Cup champion Danny Formal set the pace across the two practice sessions for the Monza season finale.

The first 45-minute session was held on a track that was still damp initially before drying by the end with Formal clocking a 1:45.870 in the closing stages to top the timesheet aboard the No. 110 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2.

That time was just 0.033 seconds faster than Hampus Ericsson managed in the sister No. 101 machine, while third-placed Dennis Lind in the No. 129 TR3 Racing entry was also within 0.06 seconds of Formal’s benchmark.

The rest of the field were over a second adrift, headed by Pro-Am competitor Wyatt Foster’s Kaizen Autosport Lamborghini.

The Am Cup division was topped by this year’s champion David Staab with a 1:48.258 for Precision Performance Motorsports, while Rocky T Bolduc was fastest among the LB Cup entrants with a 1:49.611 for Topp Racing.

Heavy rain fell between the two sessions with FP2 on Wednesday afternoon therefore held on a very wet track and lap times were considerably slower.

Colin Queen ended up setting the pace on a 1:59.174 for ANSA Motorsport, while 18 of the 31 crews decided against venturing out with weather forecasts suggesting the rest of the event, which culminates in the Lamborghini World Finals at the weekend, should be predominantly dry.

Attention now turns to the pair of qualifying sessions, which are due to get under way at 10 a.m. CEST (4 a.m. EST) on Thursday, before the first 45-minute race is scheduled for later in the afternoon at 2:45 p.m. CEST (8:45 a.m. EST), which will be shown live on Peacock and the Lamborghini Squadra Corse YouTube channel.
