Seven-time Trans-Am champion Ernie Francis Jr. will make his Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America debut, joining forces with TR3 Racing.

The Florida native will share the cockpit of the No. 88 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 with series regular Giano Taurino as part of a two-car effort supported by Lamborghini Miami.

Francis Jr. joins the series after three years of American single seater racing, first competing in the Formula Regional Americas championship before moving to Indy NXT.

“After two years of open wheel racing in IndyNXT, I am happy to come back to my roots of sportscar competition,” said Francis Jr.

“The partnership with TR3 Racing to compete in the PRO category of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Series is exciting and one we feel can lead to much success on the racetrack.

“From the preseason testing in the car we feel very confident in our pace and driver lineup with Giano Taurino and myself.

“We expect nothing less then to be competing for race ins and a championship. We look forward to opening the season at our home race in Sebring.”

The team’s second car, entered into LB Cup, features the returning pairing of Rogelio Perusquia and Rodrigo Vales.
