Sergio Jimenez topped the time charts following Friday’s pair of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America practice sessions at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
The ANSA Motorsports driver recorded a quick time of 1:25.719 in the closing stages of the second practice session to outpace the No. 27 Dream Racing Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo of Richard Antinucci by 0.167 seconds.
Jimenez is making his series return after missing the last round at Road America.
Antinucci’s pace-setting time from Practice 1 was 0.030 seconds quicker than the No. 6 O’Gara Motorsport/US RaceTronics entry of Jacob Eidson, who ended up second quickest in the afternoon session.
Road America winner Kyle Marcelli was fourth quickest overall in the No. 1 Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing entry followed by Nelson Piquet Jr., who completed the top-five in the sister ANSA machine.
Luke Berkeley led the way in the Am class with a 1:26.487 lap time in the No. 23 Dream Lamborghini that put him fourth overall on the time sheets in Practice 1.
Pro-Am was paced by the No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports entry of Brandon Gdovic, with a time that was also set in the morning.
The No. 8 O’Gara/USRT Lamborghini of Mel Johnson paced LB Cup, meanwhile.
Qualifying is scheduled to get underway Saturday at 10:20 a.m. PT.
