Liddy Leads Way in Red Flag-Filled Opening Session

Pro-Am class competitor Patrick Liddy led the way in the opening Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America practice at Road America ahead of this weekend’s pair of 50-minute races.

Liddy, in the No. 8 O’Gara Motorsport/Change Racing/USRT Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2, set a best time of 2:06.243 in the red flag-filled session for the single-make series.

Liddy was 0.151 seconds clear of the No. 27 Dream Racing Lamborghini of Edoardo Liberati, who was second quickest overall and the fastest of the Pro class competitors.

Billy Johnson, who led the majority of the session overall, was third in his No. 71 TPC Racing Lamborghini, followed by points leader Kyle Marcelli in the No. 1 Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing entry.

The No. 48 Precision Performance Motorsports Lamborghini of Nikko Reger topped the Am class while Flying Lizard Motorsports’ Slade Stewart was quickest in LB Cup.

The 45-minute session saw three stoppages, the first for the No. 4 MCR Racing entry of Michael Mennella, which went off in Turn 10.

It was followed by a second red for the Fred Roberts’ No. 89 NTE Sport Lamborghini, which stopped in the Turn 12 runoff.

LB Cup driver Ofir Levy had an off in Turn 1 to bring out the third and final red with less than six minutes left on the clock.

Practice 2 kicks off Friday at 8:45 a.m. CT followed by qualifying at 2:20 p.m.
