Kyle Marcelli posted the quickest time in the opening day of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America track action at Circuit of The Americas.

The newly minted Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing driver recorded a best time of 2:08.731 in his No. 1 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo that he shares with Danny Formal.

Marcelli’s time was 0.244 seconds quicker than the 27 Dream Racing Motorsport entry of Richard Antinucci.

The No. 61 MCR racing Lamborghini of Max Weering completed the top-three overall and in the Pro class.

All three of the day’s quickest times came in the opening 40-minute practice session of the day, prior to NASCAR stock cars taking to the track.

Jacob Eidson was quickest in Practice 2 in his No. 6 O’Gara Motorsport/USRT Lamborghini with a time of 2:09.005 that put him fourth best on the day.

The No. 48 Kelly-Moss Road and Race entry of Alec Udell completed the top-five overall.

Class leaders on Friday included the No. 51 Taurino Racing Lamborghini of Claude Senhoreti (Pro-Am), Alan Metni in the No. 99 Kelly-Moss entry (Am) and the No. 47 Precision Performance Motorsport Lamborghini of Mark Kvamme (LB Cup).

All 30 cars turned laps over the course of the sessions, although an accident for Scott Welham in the No. 82 Change Racing Lamborghini brought out a lengthy red flag in Session 2.

Welham’s Lamborghini sustained right-rear damage, with the session resuming with four minutes left on the clock.

Qualifying is set to get underway Saturday at 7 a.m. CT ahead of Race 1 at 6 p.m. that evening.
