Al Morey has been confirmed in the second of three Alliance Racing entries in this year’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series.

Morey, a veteran of U.S. F4 and the USF2000 series, will make his sports car racing debut as part of a full-season effort with the team. His co-driver has yet to be announced.

“This is a great opportunity for me,” he said. “After my first test with the Lamborghini, I knew I wanted to make something of it.

“The Super Trofeo was a very different drive compared to what I’m used to, but l really liked it. I had great pace in the first outing, and I am ready to get the season started with Alliance Racing and am counting down the days until we are on track again.

“We’ve had quite the off-season so I’m happy to have a place with Alliance.

“We tested two other types of cars during the off-season, but the Super Trofeo was the best fit with everything taken into account.

“I think now is the right time to get into sports cars, their popularity is growing rapidly here in the States, and this also allows me to race in Europe.”

Morey joins the already confirmed driver duo of Andre Lagartixa and Will Edwards within the team.

“Al had a great test with us and was immediately on pace working with former IndyCar Series driver and Alliance Racing Driver Coach Sebastian Saavedra,” explained team owner Toney Edwards.

“Al is a young kid with a good head on his shoulders. He was a natural fit for Alliance Racing, and he has the speed to fight for race wins and podiums this season.”

Alliance will kick off the season as a two-car operation before planning to add a third Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO2 beginning at the second round of the season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in May.
