Portimao to Host 2022 Lamborghini World Final

Lamborghini has announced that its World Final meeting next year will be held at Portimao, marking the first time that the Portuguese circuit has hosted the event.

The company’s head of motorsport Giorgio Sanna unveiled the location and date of the 2022 edition during the manufacturer’s prize-giving ceremony at Misano on Saturday evening.

Portimao will stage the final rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America and Europe seasons before the two championships converge for the World Final.

The Super Trofeo title deciders will take place on Nov. 3-4 followed immediately by the World Final races on Nov. 5-6.

Portimao is the eighth different venue for Lamborghini’s established end-of-year meeting, and the third on the Iberian peninsula after Valencia in 2016 and Jerez in 2019.

“We will close the season as usual with round number six of the American and European schedules [at] a new track,” said Sanna.

“We will be in Portugal for the first time, racing at Portimao where we will hold the World Final.”

Additionally, Imola has been confirmed as the location for the opening round of the Super Trofeo Europe season in place of Monza. The change corresponds with a recent Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup venue swap.

The main update on the 2022 Super Trofeo North America schedule is the confirmation of Ozarks International Raceway as the site of round two on May 20-22.

As indicated by Sportscar365 last month, Super Trofeo will join the SRO America bill for one of the first major events at the brand-new track in Missouri.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East championship is due to return early next year with a schedule that was announced by the manufacturer in August.
