Loris Spinelli laid down the quickest time of the day following two practice sessions for this weekend’s pair of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America races at Virginia International Raceway.
The Taurino Racing by D Motorsports driver reeled off a best lap of 1:44.188 in Friday morning’s practice to end up fastest, 0.297 seconds quicker than TPC Racing’s Billy Johnson, who was second.
The Pro class championship-leading No. 1 Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 was third overall on the time sheets, thanks to Danny Formal’s chart-topping time from a red flag-filled afternoon session.
The No. 8 O’Gara Motorsport/Change Racing/USRT Lamborghini of Patrick Liddy paced the Pro-Am class thanks to his time set in the morning, while Shehan Chandrasoma in the No. 19 MCR Racing entry was quickest in the Am class in both sessions.
Slade Stewart posted the quickest time in LB Cup although his Flying Lizard Motorsports entry brought out an early red flag in Practice 2, with Stewart not appearing for the remainder of the session.
Practice 2 ended early following multiple impacts with the barriers that saw another red flag.
Qualifying is set to get underway Saturday at 9:45 a.m. ET ahead of the first race of the weekend, which gets underway at 2:05 p.m. ET with live coverage on Peacock and IMSA.tv.
